Some stick welders try to hard too give you everything you’d ever need, whether you want those features or not. Others work hard at providing you with a good, cheap welder that won’t break your budget. The Longevity Stickweld 140-amp Dual Voltage Welder does a good job of finding a compromise between those two extremes.

It is a 140-amp stick welder that operates on 110/220v inputs. It also features a lift TIG operation so you can connect a TIG torch if you wish. Weighing just 13 pounds, the power plugs and the power-switching adapter is included in the box so that you can get the best possible results out of this equipment.

Features of the Longevity Stickweld

  • This welder does an excellent job of pushing 6013 and 7018 rods without an issue. Both 1/8 and 3/32 rods work just fine with this welder, as do the SS 308-309 rods.
  • A digital display is included on the welder so that you know what amp setting is being used.
  • You will need to watch the duty cycle on this welder, which is about 70% on the full amperage rating.
  • The 110v adapter works just fine, though your circuit does need to be rated at 15 amps to avoid tripping the breaker. The welder does tend to perform a bit better when using the standard 220v input.

What to Expect with the Longevity Stickweld

There isn’t a lot of power for this welder when you plug it into a standard wall outlet. We struggled to even get it to strike at times, even when it was on its highest setting. For all practical purposes, even though this is a dual voltage welder, it really only operates with consistency with the higher voltage input.

If you do get it to strike, give it a chance to heat up just a bit before getting to work. Otherwise, you may find yourself in a strike and stick pattern.

Longevity offers one of the better warranties that is on the market today. This includes a risk-free 30-day trial of their welding equipment. You’ll want to verify that the seller of your welder is an authorized dealer, however, to make sure that you’re getting the full warranty on the product.

During our trial of the welder, we rarely went above 120a and could easily work with ¼-inch materials. It needs a good, clean surface in order to operate well. That makes it difficult to use in some industrial situations, but for most DIY projects, it performs with remarkable consistency.

Our Bottom Line: This is an excellent entry-level stick welder that will be able to grow with you as your skills grow. It has enough to please an experienced amateur, but may only be a good backup welder for those who work professionally in our industry. The Longevity Stickweld 140-amp Dual Voltage Welder exceeded our expectations and we believe you’ll have a similar experience.
